Old Enough for Tomatoes

In college, when we used to frequent Denny’s for pot after pot of coffee, food usually ensued. Much like a ‘kiddie’ menu, Denny’s also had a ‘senior’ menu that sported one of my favorite sandwiches–the Senior Grilled Cheese.

If I have to be sixty-five to have tomato slices on my sandwich, sign me up. Or just let me wait; I’ll get there eventually.

The cool, rainy evening made a senior grilled cheese sound tempting. But you know what made it sound more tempting? Avocado slices. Spinach. And Dave’s freshly baked honey oat wheat bread.

Provolone was my cheese of choice this evening.

Sweet potato fries seasoned with cumin and garlic salt and a bunch of grapes rounded out the meal nicely.
